Vilas Tathavadkar leads technology and process innovation for Hindalco’s aluminum upstream and copper businesses. With over 30 years in the field, he has contributed significantly to research in extractive metallurgy, process design, and materials innovation.

He began his career in 1991 at C-MET, focusing on ultra-pure metals for electronics, later advancing to Chief Researcher in Iron-Making at Tata Steel. Before joining Hindalco in 2022, he held senior roles at Aditya Birla Science & Technology Co. Ltd., guiding tech strategy across the metals and mining value chain.

Tathavadkar holds a B.Tech in Metallurgical Engineering from COEP Pune, an M.Tech in Materials Science from IIT Bombay, and a PhD from the University of Leeds, UK.
