Days after introducing a comprehensive package of digital transformation and artificial intelligence initiatives to advance defence capabilities, the UAE has unveiled a new AI-driven project to enhance labor market productivity nationwide.
The project, launched by the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Port Security, in partnership with the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization (MoHRE), aims to streamline workforce management and enhance efficiency in the labor sector.
It will rely on objective evaluation mechanisms and key indicators, including professional skills, education level, experience, and acquired knowledge, for screening work permit applicants more efficiently.
Leveraging AI technologies, such as smart algorithms and robotics, it will align with the UAE’s new government work system for integrating agentic AI models into operations within two years.
The initiative forms part of the strategy and vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, to advance AI-driven innovations across various sectors.
The move aims to attract professional talent and skilled workers to meet the demands of the modern economy and to consolidate the UAE’s standing as a global environment that attracts talent. The recent geopolitical tensions have taken a toll on the country’s manpower, with a significant number of expatriates returning to their native places, including one in eight British residents.
Notably, almost 90% of the UAE’s demography is expatriates, i.e., 9.2 to 10 million foreign residents.
Slated to begin in early May, the project aims to accelerate progress toward national goals for a more productive, diversified, and balanced labor market, while strengthening talent attraction amid a global transformation in work and production.
The initiative is a part of a framework designed to support the development of a knowledge-based, innovation-driven economy.
