Dr. Akram Awad leads BCG’s global Smart Cities work and shapes the public sector’s future of technology and AI. With nearly 20 years of experience in consulting, telecom, and tech, he advises senior leaders in the Middle East and globally on harnessing AI and data to drive economic and societal progress.
A thought leader and renowned public speaker at the intersection of AI, urban innovation, and public policy, Dr. Awad has helped craft national strategies for data, AI, and Smart Cities and enabled AI-powered governance. He led the creation of BCG’s ASPIRE framework for national AI strategies. He has co-led several of BCG’s flagship AI studies, including the Global AI Maturity Matrix and the GCC AI Pulse.
He champions human-centric AI and contributes to global initiatives like the Global AI Summit.
