Singapore-based AI startup Manus has joined Meta, marking one of the most significant talent and technology integrations in the emerging General AI Agent space.
The deal brings Manus’s general-purpose autonomous agent into Meta’s expanding AI ecosystem, with plans to integrate the technology across consumer and enterprise products, including Meta AI.
Both companies said Manus will continue to operate and sell its subscription-based service independently, even as its core team joins Meta.
Founded around the idea of execution-first AI, Manus has built a general-purpose agent capable of handling complex, end-to-end tasks such as market research, coding, automation, and data analysis.
Since launching its first General AI Agent earlier this year, Manus claims its platform has already processed more than 147 trillion tokens and powered the creation of over 80 million virtual computers, a metric reflecting large-scale autonomous task execution.
For Meta, the acquisition represents a strategic leap toward deploying agentic AI at a massive scale, AI systems that don’t just assist users but independently carry out multi-step work. The company said Manus’s technology will help unlock new opportunities for businesses across Meta’s platforms while extending advanced agent capabilities to billions of users.
“Joining Meta allows us to build on a stronger, more sustainable foundation without changing how Manus works or how decisions are made,” said Xiao Hong, CEO of Manus. “We’re excited about what the future holds with Meta and Manus working together, and will continue to iterate on the product and serve users who have defined Manus from the beginning.”
Meta echoed this sentiment, highlighting Manus as one of the most advanced autonomous agent platforms currently in production. “Manus has built a leading autonomous general-purpose agent that can independently execute complex tasks,” the company said, adding that it plans to scale the service to many more businesses worldwide.
While financial details were not disclosed, the move signals Meta’s intent to move beyond AI assistants toward fully autonomous, execution-layer AI systems, positioning Manus as a foundational piece in that ambition.
