Khazna Data Centers has taken a significant step in expanding its footprint in Saudi Arabia, announcing the appointment of Mohammed Bin Hassan as Country Head following the company’s acquisition of a 225,000 sqm land plot in Dammam. The move signals Khazna’s intent to scale AI-ready digital infrastructure in one of the region’s fastest-growing technology markets.
In this leadership role, Bin Hassan will focus on strengthening Khazna’s presence across Saudi Arabia, forging deeper partnerships with local clients, and driving capacity growth aligned with Saudi Arabia’s national ambitions as outlined in Vision 2030. His appointment comes at a time when the Kingdom is rapidly advancing its digital transformation agenda and requiring substantial hyperscale capacity to support AI adoption, cloud expansion, and sovereign data strategies.
With more than 20 years of experience shaping digital transformation across both public and private sectors, Bin Hassan brings extensive national expertise. His previous roles include serving as Chief Digital Officer at a Public Investment Fund (PIF) company, where he launched its first Digital Strategy, and contributing to Vision 2030 through leadership of the $1.6 billion 4th Industrial Revolution strategy, which accelerated innovation and industrial modernization.
At Khazna, Bin Hassan will lead the launch and development of the company’s new Dammam site, which is set to deliver up to 200 MW of AI-ready capacity. His mandate also includes overseeing Khazna’s broader expansion in the Kingdom, with new facilities expected to complement national efforts to build sovereign digital infrastructure and support Saudi Arabia’s AI-driven economic objectives.
Hassan Alnaqbi, CEO of Khazna Data Centers, underscored the country’s strong digital momentum: “Over the past decade, Saudi Arabia has laid some of the strongest digital and AI foundations in the world. Khazna’s entry into Saudi Arabia is set to significantly accelerate the Kingdom’s hyperscale capacity. Already the largest hyperscale wholesale data center provider in the region, Khazna operates 30 live data centers with nearly 650MW of energy-efficient capacity. The company is currently building more than 1GW of additional AI-ready capacity across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Italy, and other key markets—strengthening its positioning as a sovereign, sustainable infrastructure partner for governments and enterprise clients.
The new Dammam facility will be designed to support a wide range of high-performance workloads, from cloud deployments to AI hyperscale clusters. Built using a modular architecture, the site will offer scalable and adaptable capacity to meet evolving digital infrastructure needs. Its flexible design will allow for rapid configuration to support GPU-intensive AI workloads with varying rack weights and power requirements. The facility will also incorporate advanced sustainability features designed to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions, and will be constructed to LEED Gold standards.
