Days after Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) threatened 18 US firms—with an alleged strike carried out on Amazon’s Bahrain cloud infrastructure—it has now released an official video threatening to strike 1GW Stargate AI datacenter in the UAE, amid the escalating geopolitical tensions.
Featuring a visual warning using satellite imagery to reveal Stargate’s desert location, Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Headquarters’ spokesman said, “Should the US proceed with its threats concerning Iran’s power plant facilities, the following retaliatory measures shall be promptly enacted. All power plants, energy infrastructure, and information and communication technology of the Zionist regime, and all similar companies in the region that have American shareholders, shall face complete and utter annihilation.”
The Stargate UAE project, valued at $30 billion, is a significant AI initiative that aims to be one of the largest of its kind outside the United States. The initial phase of the project will focus on producing 200 megawatts (MW) by 2026, with plans to scale up to 1 gigawatt (GW) in the future. It is supported by prominent industry players, including Japan’s SoftBank, America’s Oracle, Cisco, Nvidia, OpenAI, and the UAE’s G42.
“By extending the world’s leading American tech stack to an important strategic partner in the region, this agreement is a major milestone in achieving President Trump’s vision for US AI dominance,” said United States Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick at the time of the announcement.
The threat signals Iran’s strategic targeting of high-value Western assets in the region, going beyond the traditional focus on military sites. For years, the Gulf region has aggressively positioned itself as a global data center hub. Now, that ambition is under threat. Both sides are increasingly targeting the economic engines of the countries- energy systems, cloud networks, and the massive data centers powering the digital world.
The IRGC has escalated threats against select firms for their alleged role in serving as espionage-linked entities for the United States.
The video also reads the message: “Nothing is hidden from our sight, though hidden by Google.”
