Dubai Hospital has successfully completed over 145 successful robotic surgeries since the launch of its automation surgery programme in the second half of 2022, Dubai Health revealed.

“This marks a milestone in the digital transformation of our healthcare system and reflects our commitment to leveraging advanced medical technologies and solutions that elevate the quality of care, in line with our vision to Advance Health for Humanity,” said Dr. Amer Sharif, CEO at Dubai Health.

Adopting a “Patient First” approach, Dubai Health is strengthening its digital infrastructure across its integrated health system. This provides medical teams with innovative technology to boost accuracy and safety, resulting in a seamless patient journey.

Surgeons use a control unit with a magnified screen to guide the robotic arms with precise, real-time movements, resulting in a minimally invasive approach that uses small incisions instead of a single large one, resulting in performing complex procedures with greater accuracy and control.

Robotic surgeries at Dubai Health operate across multiple specialties, including urology, general surgery, and gynaecology, utilizing systems that provide surgeons with high-precision, 3D visualisation.

Training of medical staff in robotic surgical systems is a key priority.

“Robotic surgeries at Dubai Health represent a significant step forward in the use of smart technologies in the operating room. This approach has increased surgical precision, strengthened patient safety, and led to improved outcomes,” said Dr. Yaser AlSaeedi, Head of Urology and Director of the Robotic Surgery programme at Dubai Health, and Assistant Professor at Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences, the learning and discovery arm of Dubai Health.

Dr. AlSaeedi revealed that robotic surgeries reduced blood loss by over 90%, shortened recovery times, and significantly lowered complications and pain. He added that all specialised surgeries performed over the past three years have demonstrated strong clinical outcomes, including a reduction in hospital stays from two weeks to less than three days.

Robotic surgery was noted to improve patient outcomes by minimizing damage to surrounding tissue, which successfully lowers the risk of infection and significantly reduces post-operative pain.

The Middle East Surgical Robots Market is projected to grow from USD 1.9 billion in 2025 to USD 6.4 billion by 2031, as per Mobility Foresight.
