Dilip Asbe has been Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer at NPCI since 2018. He has overseen the growth of landmark digital platforms such as Unified Payments Interface (UPI), RuPay, Immediate Payment Service (IMPS), and Aadhaar Enabled Payment System (AePS).
Under his leadership, NPCI has expanded globally through its subsidiary NPCI International Payments Ltd, while also scaling domestic systems such as Bharat BillPay and BHIM. These platforms together now handle more than 18 billion transactions every month, making India a global leader in low-cost, real-time payments.
An electronics engineer, Asbe studied at the London School of Economics and completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School. He has been recognized with awards such as CNBC-TV18’s Disruptor Award and the Internet and Mobile Association of India’s “Digital Person of the Year.”
