Amitabh Kant was India’s G20 Sherpa from July 2022 to June 2025, steering negotiations through the country’s presidency year from December 2022 to November 2023. Earlier, he was the longest-serving CEO of NITI Aayog, leading the government’s policy think tank from 2016 to 2022.
In June, he joined Fairfax Financial Holdings as Senior Advisor, guiding the Canadian group’s investments in India across infrastructure, financial services, logistics, and mobility. The following month, he was appointed to the board of IndiGo, India’s largest airline, adding corporate governance and policy experience to its expansion plans.
A 1980-batch officer of the Indian Administrative Service (Kerala cadre), Kant has shaped landmark initiatives such as Make in India, Startup India, and Incredible India, besides creating Kerala’s “God’s Own Country” tourism campaign. He is also the author of Branding India: An Incredible Story and Incredible India 2.0, and editor of The Path Ahead: Transformative Ideas for India.
