UAE-based telecom operator du has launched an industrial AI platform aimed at manufacturers and heavy industry operators in the Emirates. The announcement was made during du’s participation in the fifth edition of ‘Make it in the Emirates’ (MIITE) 2026.

The platform, launched under du Tech’s portfolio, combines multi-cloud capabilities with the company’s National Hypercloud infrastructure, allowing enterprises to deploy AI applications. The move comes as Gulf states increasingly position “digital sovereignty” as a strategic priority, particularly for critical sectors such as manufacturing, energy, and logistics.

Instead of general-purpose AI tools, the platform is tailored for industrial operations. Pre-built AI models will address factory-floor challenges, including predictive maintenance, asset management, production efficiency, quality control, and energy optimization. The company said the platform also supports no-code AI development, for firms to train and deploy models using proprietary operational data without requiring extensive in-house AI expertise.

A key aspect of the launch is its emphasis on explainable AI. du Tech said the system is designed to provide transparent, traceable outputs rather than relying on traditional opaque “black box” models, appealing to industrial operators for whom compliance, safety, and operational accountability are critical concerns.

The initiative is also backed by a partnership with Bosch Software Digital Solutions (SDS), which will support ecosystem development and industrial AI deployment strategies in the UAE market.

Jasim Alawadi, Chief ICT Officer at du, said: “By combining du Tech’s sovereign cloud and digital infrastructure with Bosch SDS’s global industrial expertise, we are enabling organizations to unlock the full value of their data and transform complex operations into actionable intelligence, while maintaining the highest standards of security, transparency, and control. This collaboration reflects du’s commitment to supporting the UAE’s vision for industrial growth and digital sovereignty.”

The announcement is an example of Gulf telecom operators preparing to provide infrastructure beyond connectivity. For the UAE, the project aligns with a broader strategy to embed AI capabilities into domestic manufacturing while maintaining tighter control over data governance and digital infrastructure.
